For the second leg of our honeymoon, my husband and I wanted to take things slow and relax. We spent hours researching the best hotels to stay at, and the best areas in Austria and Germany, and combed through endless reviews. Our research was rewarded with gourmet food, spectacular service, grand views, and one of the best hotel stays we have ever experienced. Here is my complete review of the Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel.
Cost
Alright, let’s get straight to it. Half Board and the Room for my husband and I was roughly $375 per night. We stayed in a “Casual Room” and found that it was more than enough space to spread out and relax. We believe that this hotel is well worth the price. Let’s take a look at our experience and you can decide for yourself…..

Our Experience
Pulling up to the well-manicured facade of the hotel we were immediately excited for our stay. We entered the stylish yet simple lobby and were greeted by the concierge who encouraged us to leave the car out front, they would park it for us once we were checked in.
We received an overview of the hotel, an explanation of how our half-board package worked, and were offered complimentary welcome drinks at the bar that we could enjoy either at that moment or after we had settled in.

For each meal, guests seat themselves at the same table. We hadn’t experienced this before and ended up loving it! Almost instantly after we sat down we were offered drinks and then made our way over to the bread station. Courses were served at our pace and we were not rushed in any way. This added to the relaxing nature of the resort. We never felt that we were a burden on the waitstaff or an imposition.
Half Board included a full breakfast spread and made-to-order items like pancakes and omelets, as well as dinner. My favorite dinner options we tried were the tuna tartare with guacamole, ox shortribs, and local venison ham & artichoke salad.

Have allergies? I have quite a few! When I arrived for dinner each night, our server already had discussed with the chef, knew what accommodations were available, and offered special off-menu alternatives as well. I have NEVER felt this confident eating out. For that reason alone, the stay here was well worth the price and the relaxation I felt knowing I would not have an allergic reaction was beyond words.
You may be wondering whether you will be bored staying at Nidum. I can assure you, that while the hotel is relaxing, there is plenty to do to keep yourself occupied.
First, test the pools!
Nidum has an indoor/outdoor infinity pool that is separated by a motion-sensor door in the pool! The temperature of the water was the same both indoors and outdoors and it was easy to swim back inside if our ears and nose got a bit too cold in the mountain air!

Our absolute favorite spot in the hotel was the whirlpool loungers located in the outdoors section of the pool where we were able to lay out underwater surrounded by bubbles, enjoying the mountain views, completely warm underwater in the middle of October!

It was a bit too chilly for us to enjoy the natural swimming pond, but if you are visiting in the warmer months be sure to check it out!
If you are comfortable with being nude around other hotel guests, there are sauna, steam baths, a hot tub, a cold plunge, and even a suspended bridge leading to a sauna carved into the rock face!
(To be honest, my husband and I were a bit too American for this and didn’t feel totally comfortable baring it all so we mostly stuck to the other areas of the spa!)
If you are feeling tense, or need a refresh there are massages, beauty treatments, and cosmetic treatments to choose from. Feeling sporty? There are bike rentals available, golf nearby, and hiking trails accessible from the hotel!
Want to branch out a bit further?
Telfs– Roughly ten minutes from Nidum, stroll around this charming little town browse the shops, and grab lunch in one of the many dining options.

Innsbruck- A bit further from Nidum, this picturesque city is just 30 minutes from the hotel and holds museums, music, and a rich history.
Zugspitze– Travel to the highest point in Germany and take a cable car to the top of Zugspitze for some truly epic views. Walk around a real glacier, sip some beer, and rent sleds for a memorable day!

The little details at Nidum truly made our stay wonderful. From the design of the room and the way the architecture blends with the surrounding mountains, to the daily pamphlets on our table letting us know in advance what our options for dinner would be, this was the perfect way to end our honeymoon. I would recommend a stay at Nidum to EVERYONE, and my husband and I are already planning a trip back (possibly bringing our family along too)!
