Does the thought of planning a weekend trip overwhelm you? I have a 5-step simple checklist that will ensure your trip is fulfilling and checks off all the must-dos. By following these steps, you’ll be able to create an incredible itinerary that caters to your interests and ensures a memorable experience.

New Restaurant
Find a restaurant that excites you. Maybe it serves a cuisine you want to try, or a restaurant with the perfect ambiance. Search up the top restaurants in the area and pick two restaurants that have good reviews, and the criteria you are looking for (menu, cost, ratings). Book a quick reservation online, and you are one step closer to an itinerary!

Museum or Cultural Activity
The next item on the checklist is activities! I try to find at least one museum or cultural activity for each trip. National Historic Sites, Art Galleries, Performing Arts Shows, Concerts, Aquariums, or Zoos are great options to experience a city, and are typically easy to research and buy tickets for!

Shopping
This one is easier than the others! Your next step is to research shops you are interested in. Try to find at least five stores that you want to check out. I look for a nice bookstore, clothing store, souvenir shop, and antique store. That usually covers all of my bases, and I always get my shopping fix! Do you collect anything? Search online to see if they have stores that sell your collectible items! Shopping will take up time during your long weekend, and may lead you to other exciting sights!
Outdoors or Scenic View
The great outdoors is a perfect addition to any vacation. Whether you go on an all-day hike, a walk around a park, or drive to a scenic lookout, any way you get outside is a good one! (Botanical gardens are a great place to start your search!) Being in a green space allows me to recharge and take a beat, centering myself when I am overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of the next city I am in.
Street Food or Snack
No trip is complete without indulging in some local street food or snacks! Research food trucks, local markets, or small stands that offer regional specialties or treats. This is a fantastic way to taste the culture of the area without breaking the bank. Whether it’s a taco stand, donuts, custard, or candy, be adventurous and embrace the culinary scene around you. Plus, it’s a great way to take a break between activities and refuel for your next stop!

Those are my 5 steps to planning a fun weekend in any city! Once you cover all these steps, you can trust that your plans will come together, helping you enjoy the city and create great memories. Try to stay relaxed when planning, and enjoy your adventure!
