Tupper Lake, a small town nestled in the Adirondacks High Peaks Region, is a fantastic getaway for those who enjoy spending time in nature. The beauty of Tupper Lake is not a secret, though, and accommodations can fill up fast, especially in the “leaf peeping” fall season. I unexpectedly had to spend the night at the Sunset Park Motel of Tupper Lake. Here is a full review of what you can expect!

Check In
My husband and I had driven up to the Adirondacks after getting off of work on Friday and after arriving at our hotel at 7:45pm, we were told that although we had recieved a confirmation, our reservation had been cancelled. After going back and forth until 9:00pm, we were left scrambling to find a place to stay. After calling around, we were able to speak to Sunset Park Motel who had a single room available for 1 night only. We said we’d be over right away.
The employee working was so nice when we checked in and was so helpful. We quickly got our keys and headed across the parking lot to our room!

The Room
The room was so spacious! I loved the kitchen table, with chairs where we could sprawl out. The couch offered another spot, providing plenty of seating for people like us who don’t love to sit in bed in the clothes we were out and about in.

The kitchenette was small but efficient and we were able to prepare our lunch for the day easily.

Our room had two queen beds, and they were surprisingly comfortable. I’ve probably slept in better, but I’ve for sure slept in worse, including a recent stay at a Hyatt!
My favorite part about this hotel was the view!! We had a fantastic view of the lake and it was stunning in the morning as we watched the fog roll off the water.

Things to Note

The bathroom was a bit older than those I’m used to at hotels, but very clean. The only negative was that when I first ran the sink, very yellow water came out. That was quite surprising!
When we visited, the temperature at night was nearly 30 degrees. Entering the room, the temperature was quite chilly so we turned on the fake fireplace and electric heater that was plugged in. After about 10 minutes, the power turned off. We contacted the front desk, and they quickly reset the breaker and power was restored. Unfortunately, after another few minutes the power went off again. We were told that running both heat sources at once might be the cause, and to stick to the fireplace. Although that was surprising, it was handled so kindly and quickly and we really appreciated that!
The location of the hotel is perfect! You are located only a few minutes from multiple activities and sites! Read my post on things to do in Tupper Lake here!!
The Final Say
I haven’t stayed in a motel in many years and was a bit scared to be honest. Although there were a few mishaps, I really enjoyed our short stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable spot to stay in the Adirondacks!
